  2. Thriller Conventions • A thriller is a broad genre of film. It includes, often overlapping sub-genres, i.e, Spy thrillers, military thrillers, conspiracy thrillers and so on. It also includes hybrid genres such as sci-fi thrillers and horror thrillers. Thrillers are characterised by fast paced and frequent action. Thrillers may be defined by the primary mood , they exhibit: excitement. If it thrills, it is a thriller. • The main types of characters and character roles I would expect to see are: • Psychos • Spies • Thieves • Criminals • Detectives • Stalkers • Victims • Assassins • Prison Inmates

  3. Themes thrillers deal with • I believe that thrillers deal with many varieties of themes such as rape, kidnapping, drugs, gangs, theft and many more. They often involve weapons and deal with the main character demanding something from someone such as searching for someone because they have stolen something from him. The typical themes usually involved are terrorism, psychological mind-games, supernatural events and many more.

  4. Thriller films • There are many examples of thriller and some of them are: • Disturbia • Unknown • Taken • Sixth Sense • Inception • The Bourne Ultimatum • There will be blood

Conventional Iconography and Setting • The main conventional Iconography used in thriller films are usually extreme settings such as small attics, abandoned buildings, etc. • They are usually in places where there are places to hide and people are unknown to the local public. The movies usually include mystery to build up tension and make the film more interesting. Big cities tend to be an unknown character for the character. The setting is very important because it needs to be a deserted place for people to hide and have a thriller-themed base there.
