One museum, one public library, and 4 academic institutions. • Histories and unique holdings of each institution. • Intellectual property of each institution. • Contains oral histories, newspapers, historical documents regarding the city of Abilene. • Cemetery records and Obituaries • African American history in Abilene, • Military History in Abilene • Social History of Abilene.

Federation of Women’s Clubs --XXI Club • Literary clubs developed across the nation as a part of the Chautauqua and Lyceum movement. • Began in 1892 in Abilene, Texas as a literary reading club for women. This club was one of the original three of the Texas Federation of Women’s Clubs of Abilene. • Membership was selective and by invitation only. Membership was kept at 21 members. • Instrumental in funding, operating and maintaining the Abilene Public Library and helped promote many other civic enhancements in town. • Will cease to exist in May 2013 after 120 years.
