Assistive Domotics important? • 13% of population in 2010 was over 65 • By 2030 9 million Americans over 85 years old. • Losing their independence and having to live in a skilled nursing facility is a huge fear of individuals of advanced stage, and those with disabilities. • Assistive domotics can allow or prolong independence

  3. Why is this a new issue? • Care for the elderly and disabled used to be done by a stay-at-home individual but the change in economics requiring two income families has changed that.

  4. Individuals want to remain at home but need help with life . . .How do we help them stay indipendent?

Definition • Wikipedia states:The form of home automation called Assistive Domotics focuses on making it possible for the elderly and disabled to remain at home, safe and comfortable… The field uses much of the same technology and equipment as home automation for security , entertainment and energy conservation but tailored towards the elderly and disabled.
