This is a technique used to get a shock reaction from the audience and show the uncertainty that the people who were involved feel. This is a phone call from the brother of the woman who was shot, telling his opinion on it from where he is on the space shuttle. Phone calls is another technique to get a voice of a person who is somehow involved but wasn’t there get the audience to feel sorry for him

  3. Techniques Continued Statistics are used make the story better and have more of an impact on the audience to show the actual devastation of the recent flooding, statistics are used in most news stories to give an impact on the whole subject to show how may people it actually affects.

  4. News Values • Immediacy – is if it has happened recently, most TV News programmes have recent stories as this is what the public want to watch • Un-ambiguity – The story has to be clear and understandable or otherwise the audience wont understand what is supposed to be happening

  5. News Values Continued • Negativity – This is bad news, this is what the viewers really want to see, bad news is often hard news which is relatively new which is what everyone wants to find out about. • Amplitude – This means whether its a big event or one that involves a lot of people, such as the Australian floods, 9/11 and Haiti etc. People want to know every minute of these to see what is happening and going on.
