Document overview • Reference Model • Management functions (PE/CE-based): • Customer service management • Provider network management • For both: • Definition, info-models, functions, architecture, etc. • Devices • MIBs, configuration protocol • Configuration aspects of some VPNs solutions (including L1, L2, and L3 VPNs)

Document goal and status • VPN TF document • Goal of the document • Provide common infrastructure and view for managing multiple types of VPNs • To lay out the building blocks and how they are inter-related without defining the details of each building block. • Keeping this document at the architectural level. • No selection of specific approach • No selection of protocols • Terminology: not an OAM(aintenance) document !

  4. Two main NMS functions • Customer Manager deals with: • Customer ID, personal info • Subscription services and parameters • Access control policy info • Stats • Provider Network Manager deals with: • Devices attributes • PE (and CE) configuration
