  3. American Colonization Society • Planned to remove blacks back to Africa • The Plan • Gradual Abolishment (1st style of Abolition) • Ship free blacks and freed slaves to Liberia • Some support, some oppose it

American Colonization Society Pro-Slavery • Gradual means we get slaves for a little while longer • We like it because it removes free blacks from our white society (America) • Plus if you don’t leave, some state laws will re-enslave you.   5. END IT NOW! • William Lloyd Garrison • Abolitionist newspaper publisher, The Liberator • Peaceful means, education is the silver bullet. • End slavery now, don’t pay the slave owners, and don’t ship the slaves overseas.

  7. Nat Turner • Slave/Preacher who led a revolt in the upper south. • Killed 57 white men, women, and children • Southern White backlash = 100+ blacks killed.
