The role of the Faculty Council (FR) • According to the rules of KTH • Represent the Faculty • Responsible for the • quality of education (undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral level), • quality of research and • quality of co-operation • Advisory body to the President • Overall responsibility for discussion and approval among the faculty at KTH

Composition of the Faculty Council • Thirteen members: • Seven of the members should have a faculty position at KTH (one of which is president(dean of faculty)) • Three external members who are not employed by KTH • Students have the right to be represented by three members • Three representatives from the trade unions have the right to attend and speak at Faculty Council meetings.

  12. Nomination committee • Presents a proposal on members of the Faculty Council, both representatives of the teachers, and external members • Suggests which of the members is to be the dean and vice dean.

  19. Recruitment committee, RN • Composition: • RN consists of a number of faculty representatives nominated by FR RN consists of a number of representatives of the business (prefects/PIs and others) For each case RN appoints a chairperson

Recruitment committee, RN • Project plan • Initiation by the dean of the school • A project plan is made for each case in connection with the proposal to FR • An administrator at the UF / LT follows each case (as before) • Schools should have an FFA officer who represents administrative support to the FFA and RN • The different roles are to be clarified (highlighted in AAE)

  21. Duties of the RN • Preparation of all information needed for the request to the FR (to the dean of the school) • Potential applicants should be identified. Both women and men should be included • Gender profile of the subject should be documented. Comparison within the specific environment (Research Fields) • Suggestion of experts • Decision about who to interview • Interview and ranking of proposals/primary candidate • Advertisement of an employment is closed actively by the FFA/dean of school

Education of RN • A subcommittee (under AU) will be established which is responsible for the development of the recruitment process, including education of RN. • The framework for the work of the committee, laws and regulations • Equality • How to interview • How to read and understand expert opinions • Assessment of management skills • Assessment of pedagogic skills
