MAJOR CAUSE OF CONCERN FOR CITIZENS OF BHARUCH AND ANKLESHWAR • NATURE’S FURY : SALINITY INGRESS – Water-rich region reduced to water-scarce region. • WATER WOES : ACTUTE DRINKING WATER PROBLEM. • GRINDING HALT : SUDDEN SHUTDOWN OF PLANT. • MISSING LINK BETWEEN TWIN CITIES : STRATEGICALLY IMPORTANT CENTURY OLD GOLDEN BRIDGE HAS OUTLIVED ITS USEFUL LIFE.

SALINITY : BRUNT OF DOUBLE EDGE SWORD FACED BY THE REGION. • MANAGING FINITE SUPPLY OF NATURE’S BOUNTY : LIMITED INCOMING WATER AFTER UPCOMING OF DAM AND INCREASED RATE OF SALINITY ON ACCOUNT OF GLOBAL GEOLOGICAL CHANGES. • AS PER THE INFORMATION COLLECTED FROM CENTRAL WATER COMMISSION OFFICE – RATE OF FLOW IN NARMADA RIVER NEAR GADURESHWAR IS AROUND 180 Cu.M/ Sec. I.e. 15552 MLD. • POUND OF FLESH : RIPEARIAN RIGHTS OF THE REGION TO BE REVIEWED.

Duration : 7 Years Nature of Bond : Public Bond. Rate of Interest : 14 %. B) TAX FREE NON CONVERTIBLE BONDS TO BE ISSUED IN MARCH 2002. Fund to be Raised : Rs. 100 Crores. Duration : 10 Years. Nature of Bond : Premium Tax Free & shall be open to only Selected Financial Institutions. Price of the Bond : Rs. 1.0 lac per Bond. Rate of Interest : 9.09 %. Status of Bond : Prerequisite clearance for NCB has been acquired from Central as well as State Government. Purpose : Finance generated by the bond would be used for projects like bridges, fly overs, water supply & sewerage, roads etc.
