  3. Through-Train Pathways to Polytechnic & ITE Higher Nitec

  4. (A) Progression to Sec 5NA • Eligibility criteria: EMB3 (English/ E Maths/ Best 3) ≤11 points

  5. (B) Polytechnic Foundation Programme • After GCE N level exams, eligible students will complete 1-year foundation programme (FP) at the polytechnics, before embarking on a 3-year diploma course. • Offered in 2013

  6. (B) Polytechnic Foundation Programme (FP) Eligibility Criteria: • EMB3 (EL /Math / Best 3) raw aggregate ≤ 11 • Top 10% of national N’ level cohort Technology/ IT/ Engineering courses --- EL ≤ 3 and Math ≤ 3 Business/Humanities --- EL ≤ 2 and Math ≤ 3

  7. (B) Polytechnic Foundation Programme (FP) From FP to 3-year polytechnic diploma course:Students who pass all modules during their Polytechnic FP course will be admitted into the first year of their pre-selected* polytechnic courses(*selection: upon release of GCE N level results)

  11. FAQs about FP • Are students allowed to transfer to different FP course or polytechnic? Students are strongly encouraged to continue with the FP course which they enrolled in. Appeals for transfer are assessed on case-by-case basis

  12. FAQs about FP • What happens when students drop out from or fail the Polytechnic FP? Not allowed to repeat the FP -Can enroll in ITE’s Higher Nitec Programmes -Appeal to school for admission to Sec 5

  13. (C) ITE >> Direct Entry Scheme to (DES) Polytechnic • After GCE N level, students will pursue 2-year Higher Nitec course at ITE • A place in a related Polytechnic Diploma course (either 1st/2nd year) is assured if qualifying GPA is met • From 2013, no. of DES places will be doubled to 1000

(C) ITE >> Direct Entry Scheme to (DES) Polytechnic Eligibility Criteria: • EMB3 EL/ Math/ Best 3 raw aggregate ≤ 19 (2) Next 20% (after top 10%) of national N’ level cohort Applied Sciences/Engineering & Info Comm Higher Nitec DES Programmes - EL ≤ 4 and Math ≤ 4 Business & Services Higher Nitec DES Programmes - EL ≤ 3 and Math ≤ 4

(C) ITE >> Direct Entry Scheme to (DES) Polytechnic From ITE Higher Nitec to Polytechnic (1st / 2nd year) Qualifying GPA for Applied Sci, Engineering or Info-Comm Technology: At least ITE raw GPA 2.5 points to be assured a 1st year place in Polytechnic Diploma At least ITE raw GPA 3.5 points to be assured a 2nd year place in Polytechnic Diploma Qualifying GPA for Business & Services: At least ITE raw GPA 3.0 points to be assured a 1st year place in Polytechnic Diploma

  24. Importance of Streaming • Students are streamed based on • Personal preference/choice • Academic merits • Impact of choice of subjects during streaming • Subject combination at Sec 3 and 4, • Options of tertiary education, • Career path.

  28. Indicate your options Appeal requests are done online through this portal. Click on the Appeals tab under the results View the results of the streaming exercise. (ie: Allocated choice)

Important • All relevant documents are available on the school website and on the streaming portal. • It is students’ responsibility to opt for their choice of studies. • After making their subject choices, print out the confirmation notice for reference. • If no option is registered by the deadline, student will be allocated to any available option.
