Important place … Tikal

A Mayan city that flourished around 700 AD in modern-day Guatemala, Tikal is best known for its towering Temple of the Two-Headed Snake.


Important place… The Mothers Monument

Monument finished on May of 1966 by a Spanish sculptor, José Nicolás. It is memorial for all the Guatemalan mothers that take care of their children as the future of the society.


Important place…San Andres Xecul Church

A small village in the Western Highlands of Guatemala, San Andrés Xecul is home to a brightly-painted Catholic church adorned with a fascinating array of Mayan, Christian and agricultural images.

  • . Music is important in Guatemalan culture. Most towns have a marimba band (the marimba is an instrument similar to a xylophone). Other traditional instruments are drums and flutes. Stringed instruments, such as guitars, were introduced by the Spanish.
