  1. Polly Dawes and Martin Wilkinson University of Bradford MetaLib at Bradford

  2. Use of MetaLib at Bradford • In addition to the usual benefits of MetaLib we anticipate that MetaLib will help us with the following: • The Library web site currently has a long, (c. 100 items) alphabetical list of databases. • We also have individual subject pages and database pages which list, and sometimes duplicate, links to our databases and other e-resources. • MetaLib will enable us to rationalise the number of links and bring them all into one area. • We also expect MetaLib to ease the authentication process by linking it to Apache.

  3. Use of MetaLib at Bradford (cont.) • Resource Categories will include headings for the different academic units at Bradford as well as more general subject and format categories.

  4. Our team approach • Polly handles the configuration of resources, Martin catalogues and tests them.

  5. Our implementation timetable • Training occurred in late October with Subject Librarian colleagues attending the first half day for a general overview of MetaLib, Polly and Martin received the in-depth cataloguing and configuration training. • Resources are currently being configured, catalogued and tested with a view to opening them up to Subject Librarian colleagues for testing and feedback around Easter. • The period between Easter and June will allow further refinement of our setup. • We expect to make MetaLib available to our users in June.

  6. A look at some of Bradford’s configured resources

  7. Thoughts on MetaLib • EndNote connection files are a good source of Resource information

  8. Thoughts on MetaLib (cont.) • Grouping together of resources within a specific category with an overall description of that category? • Menu setup via a drop-down list within MetaLib Management would be nice.
