  1. Gold: Can you hit it? (Yes you can!) • The Stars represent people! • Instructions: • The Pink stars each need to place a target worth 1,3, or 5 points on their side of the table (As shown). • The yellow star has a ball and a bat • They will throw the ball up slightly, let it bounce and then hit it. • The ball must bounce on both sides of the net when they hit it. • If they hit any of the targets they score this many points. • They get five goes to get as many points as possible! • Don’t forget to keep score on the whiteboard! • Tip: The pink stars need to think strategically about where they place the targets! 5 3 1 What part of table tennis will this game help us develop? Can you think of any coaching points? Write them on the post-it note to help the next group!

  2. Bronze: Oh no I’ve hit a wall! How would you use this in a game of table tennis? What do you need to do to be effective? • -Stand approximately 1.5 M away from the wall • Throw the ball up to yourself gently • Then when the ball is at is highest point (this should be no higher then your chest) hit it at the wall • Can you maintain a rally with the wall? Challenge yourself..move further away from the wall! Challenge again: have a go at Gold!

Gold: Table Tennis Cricket Howzaat? • The blue star is the batter, the red star the bowler and the pink stars are the fielders. • The red star will bowl, making sure the ball bounces both sides. • The batter uses a forehand to return. • If none of the fielders get it then it is a point to the batter. • If the fielders get it after one bounce then one point to them. • If the fielders catch it the batter is out and you will need to rotate. • The batter is also out if they hit the net, or they don’t hit the table when they return the ball! • Remember to keep score!

  4. Bronze: Keep it going..! Count how many keep-ups you can do Tips- • Try to get the ball to hit the centre of the bat as this will make it go straight up. • Be ready and on your toes How could you use this in a game? Challlenge yourself: Can you do it with the backhand? Challenge again: Go for Gold!

Gold: No Racket No Bother • The blue smileys are playing against the yellow smileys! • There is two balls in play. • The aim of the game is to throw the ball to your opponents to try and score a point. • You score a point if you: force the ball to bounce twice on their side of the table, they don’t catch the ball and it lands on the floor, or they throw the ball at the net. • First team to 11 points win! THINK TACTICALLY: WHERE CAN YOU PLACE THE BALL TO MOVE YOUR OPPONENTS.

  6. Bronze: You can’t fool me! The Blue star is vs the Green star. The aim of the game is to try to get the table tennis ball to bounce twice on your opponents side. Think about how you can move them in order to do this. Think about where you place the ball. Can you move your opponent around to try and create some space?

Gold: Bench Tennis • The two stars are playing against each other and are sitting at the edge of the benches. • One will start the game by serving, the ball must bounce both sides of the cone. • Players must play using only their backhand drive. • First to 11 wins. Can you think of the coaching points?

  8. Bronze: Backhand Beach Tennis How many rallies can you do with your partner with a backhand? Can you improve your technique to improve your score? How? Bronze: 5 Silver: 6-15 Gold: 16-30 Platinum: 31+
