  3. 何謂視覺資源 Visual resource • 美國視覺資源界所謂的視覺資源主要是指提供靜止圖像的幻燈片、照片、圖片等靜畫資料，錄影帶及影像資料庫亦在資源範圍之內。

  4. Visual Resource Association • 視覺資源協會（Visual Resource Association，簡稱VRA）是美國視覺資源領域著名的非營利性專業團體。 • 1982年成立迄今，VRA主要的任務在於視覺資源特徵與管理的研究及專業人才的培訓。 • VRA的會員來自各世界各地的有關視覺資源相關人員，基本上，VRA是影像媒體專業人員的國際性組織。

  5. What is VRA Core • VRA Core Categories for Visual Resources(簡稱VRA Core) • 由視覺資源協會所發展。 • 旨在描述視覺資源典藏品的指引，並作為與其他文化遺產資訊間的互通機制。 • 描述的不只是作品原件，特別設計於視覺替代物的詳細描述。 • 最新版： • Version 3.0 last modified on 2/20/2002

  6. VRA Core 的發展 • 為因應網路環境及視覺資源的複雜性，提供會員資源共享，VRA於1993年成立Data Standards Committee。 • 其收集美加地區60多個視覺資源機構所用的描述項目(categories)，找出共同項目後，再參考CDWA，於1996年正式公布第一版VRA Core。 • 三種Versions： • 1.0 (Fall 1996) • 2.0 (October 1997) • 3.0 (Feb. 2002)

  10. VRA Core 的特性(1) • 描述的資料類型特殊： • 平面資料 • 幻燈片、投影片、照片、靜畫… • 平面及立體作品 • 藝術作品、傳統手工藝品、建築物、錄影帶、民間文化、歷史遺產… • 無實體存在的資源 • 發生過的事件、表演藝術、數位化圖檔…

  11. VRA Core 的特性(2) • 可區分原件或代替物： • 原件→作品（work） • 真實存在的實體，具「原創性」與「唯一性」。 • 可以是一件藝術作品（繪畫、雕塑）、一場表演（作曲、演出）、或一個建築物等。 • 可以是一個單獨的物件，也可以由多個物件組合而成。 • 代替物→影像（image） • 將作品以另一個型態呈現，如照片、數位影像檔… • 一個「作品」可能擁有數個「影像」代替物。 讓使用者識別所編目的物件是否為創作原件， 或知道是否有其他 相關「作品」或「影像」存在。

  12. VRA Core 的特性(3) • 「1:1」原則： • 一筆書目記錄只描述一個物件資料，「作品」和「影像」被視為單獨的編目主體。 • 運用VRA Core中＜Work Type＞與＜Relation＞兩個項目將彼此作一連結。 • 採線性（line）結構的方式設計項目。

  13. VRA Core 的特性(4) • 項目核心具有彈性： • 項目沒有固定的順序。 • 沒有必備的項目。 • 著錄時沒有項目重複與否的限制。 • 每個項目均可加入檢索。 • 可在核心項目外擴增所需的館藏管理項目。

  14. VRA Core 的優點 • 各館保留一致的重要資訊。 • 為國際著名單位採用，利於資源分享與交換。 • 有專責機構負責研發與維護。

  15. VRA Core 的限制 • 編目平台的開發： • 使用者必須自行設計操作系統，要投注相對的成本。 • 例如Kent State University，自行在網路上建置一個VRA Core 3.0為基礎的編目平台。 • http://circe.slis.kent.edu/mzeng/vra3template.htm • 只是資料結構標準，不涉及資料內容標準或資料值標準。 • 國內缺乏類似的中文權威控制工具。 • Art & Architecture Thesaurus , Union List of Artist Names….
