  16. Fortunately, there is the„ARCHELON“

  17. ARCHELON is a society which works closely with state agencies, institutions, fishermen and local people in order to protect the declining population of carettacaretta turtles in Greece. Every year, young volunteers from all over the world come to help on the nesting beaches and in the Rescue Center. Everyone can join the team. See the website to learn more aboutdetails. The sea turtle protection society of Greece http://www.archelon.gr/eng/whois.php?row=row1

  18. Applicants who are interested in the job in the Rescue Centermust be over 18 years of age. • They must speak English as the project is in the English language. • It is a big advantage if the applicants are skillful or talented and can participate in the production of souvenirs which are sold to tourists. • The recommended period of participation • on the project is 6 weeks.

  19. Beach Patrols Beach Patrols work by day and night to minimizethe impact of tourism on the nesting activity, e.g. They explain to beach visitors why their parasols can‘t be stood up freely wherever they want. At night, after the turtles finish laying their eggs, the BeachPatrols tag the animals to record their migration habits. Early in themorning, they look for new turtle nests, label them and cover them with protective baskets.
