MMD is a progressive narrowing of the arteries to the brain. It restricts blood flow to the brain, often times resulting in TIAs/mini-strokes (transient ischemic attacks) or even worse, a stroke. This disease affects only one in 2,000,000 people. The only option is surgery. Justin bravely endured eight hours of brain surgery in April 2007. Justin will always have Moyamoya. Many questions remain unanswered with MMD. Is it genetic or environmental? Why does it cause intense migraine-like headaches? Why do symptoms vary from child to child?
