  2. HABITAT The snowy owl lives in open tundra and meadows in Alaska , Greenland, Canada , Scandinavia and Russia.

  3. Adaptation #1 The snowy owl’s thick coat of feathers extends all the way to its toes to protect it from the cold . This helps it survive because it lives in cold places.

  4. Adaptation#2 The snowy owl’s sense of hearing is so good that it can locate mammals under heavy vegetation or snow so it can eat.

  5. Adaptation#3 The snowy owl’s feathers are serrated. This quiets the noise the bird makes when it flaps its wings so it can sneak up on its prey.

  6. Extra information Snowy owls eat lemmings , mice , rabbits , small birds , and fish. They also dive bomb predators that get to close to its nest.
