ELECTRIC INDUSTRY

  9. Important quantities of gas are generated with the petroleum production. In recent years, the associated gas equivalence used has been about 1 MM tons/year. • 2 new gas turbines and a second combined cycle, (ENERGAS). 90 MW will be available in the near future. • The thermoelectrical plant to the East of Havana is ready for simultaneous burning of gas and crude oil NEW CONCEPTS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE ELECTROENERGETIC SYSTEM FOR DISTRIBUTED GENERATION OF ENERGY IN CUBA ELECTRIC INDUSTRY

  10. Batteries for Energy Generation Plants, synchronized to the National Electric System. • Generation in rural sub-stations. • Independent energy generation plants in key places • of economy and services. • Minimum values of fuel consumption: 210 g/kWh generated. • Availability no below 90 % (above the 60% of the traditional system) • Values of Unitarian power, which capacity, in case of failure, would not cause an impact on the National Electrical System. NEW CONCEPTS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE ELECTROENERGETIC SYSTEM FOR DISTRIBUTED GENERATION OF ENERGY IN CUBA

  11. Synchronized Energy Generation Plants Legend Clusters Distribution Sub-stations

  12. The process of rehabilitation of networks has begun in order to reduce loss in distribution and low voltage levels. • The production of distribution transformers will be triplicated. • New brigades of linesmen are being formed in the whole country. NEW CONCEPTS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE ELECTROENERGETIC SYSTEM FOR DISTRIBUTED GENERATION OF ENERGY IN CUBA Implementation of a wide program of rehabilitation of old and inefficient networks

  13. The technical conditions of the installed transformers will be checked. Electric posts and leads in bad conditions will be replaced. • A modern fleet of transports for the improvement of the service provided by our linesmen (trucks, cranes, and specialized vehicles.) NEW CONCEPTS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE ELECTROENERGETIC SYSTEM FOR DISTRIBUTED GENERATION OF ENERGY IN CUBA Implementation of a wide program of rehabilitation of old and inefficient networks

  14. Resources will be dedicated to keep the level of availability of the most efficient units of the current thermoelectrical plants. The inefficient ones will be replaced by the new distributed generation system. • Whenever it is required by the system, in the first phase of the current transformation, the thermoelectrical plants will be ready. PRIORITATION OF THE MINIMUM NECESSARY RESOURCES IN ORDER TO IMPROVE THE AVAILABILITY OF THE THERMOELECTRICAL PLANTS AND THEIR MAINTAINANCE

  15. USE OF ALL POSSIBLE KINDS OF RENEWABLE ENERGY AEOLIAN BIOMASS SOLAR HYDRAULIC

  16. INTENSIVE PROGRAM FOR RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT OF SOLAR AND AEOLIAN ENERGY • The aeolian development will be subjected to a number of technological tests, including resistance to the frequent hurricanes that affect the island every year. • Potential areas for the installation of wind generators have been identified. • Farthest west of Pinar del Río. • Isla de la Juventud. • Northern costal area from Holguín to Villa Clara.

  17. POTENTIAL ZONES FOR AEOLIC ENERGY DEVELOPMENT IN CUBA

  18. A NEW CULTURE OF ENERGY SAVING IS GROWING AND STRENGTHENING IN EACH CUBAN CITIZEN • Efficient household electrical appliances are being distributed in order to improve the living standards of the population. High energy consumption appliances are being replaced. • Campaigns are carried out in order to promote an awareness of electricity saving in the present and future generations.

  19. The development of the Electro energetic System, demands resources and services, opportunities for potential suppliers
