Inclusion of voluntary committed cost sharing is prohibited. Awardees remain subject to the OMB A-21 Clarification memo regarding committing and tracking faculty effort .

Pre-Awards Review • Scope of Work – NSF does not support • Technical assistance, pilot plant efforts, research requiring security classification, the development of products for commercial marketing, or market research for a particular project or invention. • Research with disease-related goals - including work on the etiology, diagnosis or treatment of physical or mental disease, abnormality, or malfunction in human beings or animals. (models, development or testing of drugs)

  10. Pre-Awards Review • Scope of Work – NSF Supports research in bioengineeringwith diagnosis- or treatment-related goals, that applies engineering principles to problems in biology and medicine while advancing engineering knowledge. Bioengineering research to aid persons with disabilities is also eligible.
