  21. OBJECTIVE: identify the unique properties of water. PROBLEM: how many drops of water will fit on top of a penny? HYPOTHESIS: ____________________ PROCEDURE: • Create a data table to record the number of drops for three pennies. • Obtain three pennies, an eye dropper, and one small beaker of water. • Slowly add drops of water to the penny and count. Do this until it finally overflows off the penny. • Record your data. Calculate the average number for your three different pennies. • Collect the averages from at least two other groups in class. • Create a graph comparing the number of drops a penny will hold. (think carefully about the type of graph you should use…) QUESTIONS: 1. Was your hypothesis correct or incorrect? Explain. 2. What property of water allowed for the drops of water to stay on the penny? 3. Were there any sources of error in our experiment? What could we do differently next time?
