  4. Comparatives and Superlatives • How is the comparative formed? • Mike and Luis are tall. • Luis is taller than Mike. • Horses and tigers are fast. • Tigers are faster than horses.

  5. Comparatives and Superlatives • How is the superlative formed? • Mike, Luis and Fred are tall. • Luis is the tallest. • Horses, tigers and cheetahs are fast. • Cheetahs are the fastest.

  6. Comparatives and Superlatives • Formation • Short adjectives add the suffix –er • Small + er/est • Fast + er/est • Strong + er/est

  7. Comparatives and Superlatives • If the adjective ends in a consonanat preceded by a vowel, the consonant is doubled • Big + ger/gest • Fat + ter/test • Wet + ter/test
