  2. The Antarctic continent is located at the extreme southern tip of our planet. Its geographical characteristics, its climate and its biological aspects give it an absolute uniqueness.

  3. In the coldest temperatures to prevail on our planet, they sink up to 70 degrees Cent below 0 and the wind reached up to 300h/km. It covers 90% of the ice on the Earth and makes it the largest reservoir of fresh water.

  4. Approximately 99% of the area is covered with ice and the average thickness reaches up to 2500 m .with various points measuring 4775 m. If this ice were to melt completely, all the oceans would rise by about 70 m of their current levels.

  5. Antarctica plays the greatest role in the freezing of our Earth and regulates the flow of the oceans and the entire world’s climate The significant environmental importance would affect the entire global climate.

  6. Despite the extremely harsh climate, the Antarctic has produced a very large animal fauna, which has surprisingly adapted to these adverse conditions.

  7. The first tourists arrived in the 50’s, This has given rise to the highest concern. There is a code of conduct the visitor must follow to protect the eco systems. For example.there are absolutely locked areas. They must not fall below a given minimum distance to the animals. They may not feed or touch them.

  8. In mid-summer(January),it remains light in the Antarctic for 24 hours a day. During the winter months it will never be really bright.
