Objectives • Provide a portfolio of tools suitable for supporting each phase of the ADM • Modeling the concerns of that phase • Provide a portfolio of tools suitable for maintaining and transferring information between phases of the ADM • Continuity as the concerns change • Provide a portfolio of tools suitable for maintaining repositories of information between each application of the ADM • Creating a corporate memory Tools Challenge

  5. Objectives • Encourage like for like comparison of tools or tool sets • Identify lesser known tools • Promote the use of building-block repositories • Promote the interchange of information between tools from different vendors • Kick-start the use of BBIBs Tools Challenge

Approach • EMA Forum's "Challenge for Secure Email" was successful because it had the backing of a significant IT customer • Our challenge must be issued in the name of significant commercial organizations • Andersen and IBM have agreed to consider putting their names on the list of challengers • Need to directly issue challenge to well known tools vendors • Publicize challenge to attract unidentified tools vendors Tools Challenge

  7. Steps • Develop and agree wording of challenge statement • Must limit variation in form of responses • Must not expect vendors to be TOGAF experts • Not a competition or a “Which” evaluation • Get written agreement from “Challengers” • Confirm schedule • Issue to agreed list of challengees • Global publicity to attract the “unknowns” • Process responses • Publicize results (Boston?) • Include in TOGAF 8 Tools Challenge
