  1. VOŠ and SPŠE Pilsen from Czech Republic Presentation In conjuction with Comenius Project Libor Veselý, Jan Vopátka, Jan Fajfrlík - Students Karel Hajžman and Jaroslava Skalová - Teachers

  2. What is Wi Fi?

  3. What I need to build a LAN ? • Router - acces point - 54 Mb/s - net cableconnection - cost around75 Euro

  4. Wirelles Card

  5. Antenna • Frequency range 2.412 GHz • Size 60 by 52 centimetres • Contact except for 3 to 5 kilometers

  6. Safety Fuse • For cover home net • Connecting by branch connector • Cost around 40 Euro

  7. What Is Software of Wi-Fi ? How it everything works ??

  8. Wi-Fi Standarts

  9. OFDM - Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing • A large number of closely-spaced orthogonal sub-carriers are used to carry data. • Data are divided into several parallel data streams.

  10. MIMO - multiple-input and multiple-output • Is the use of multiple antennas at both the transmitter and receiver to improve communication performance. • It is one of several forms of smart antenna technology.

  11. Security • Types of network security: • VPN • WEP • WPA • SSID

  12. VPN - virtual private network • Is a computer network, where data are carried by virtual circuits in some larger network - Internet, Wi-fi...

  13. WEP - Wired Equivalent Privacy • Is basic Wi-Fi security and it is implemented since 1999. • It sends encrypting key with data, so it is not too difficult to catch its key. • We know a lot of weakness of WEP secure. • Nowadays is recommended to use stronger methods of security

  14. WPA - Wi-Fi Protected Access • protocol was created in response to serious weaknesses in the previous system - WEP.

  15. SSID - Service Set Identifier • Is a name used to identify WLANs to which a user wants to attach. • It is normal for multiple access points to share the same SSID if they provide access to the same network. • Turning off the broadcast of the SSID leads to a false sense of security.

  16. My Opinion • It is cheap and fast • It is easy to use • It has high level of security • I think, Wi-Fi can be very useful in The smart home.

  17. Chance to control smart home at a distance

  18. 1. Access to smart home 2. Check home and forgotten action 3. Home security 4. Control setting 5. Control simulated presence

  19. 1. Access to smart home – 1 control block – gateway – CPU or computer with Wi-Fi – access from all the world • via satellite phone • via mobile phone as SMS • via internet

  20. 1. Access to smart home

  21. 2. Check home and forgotten action - accept information about outdoor and indoor temperature and outdoor weather - information about switch-on cooker, which we can turn off - forgotten hotplate and turn off socket - turn off the lightning - turn off the heating

  22. 3. Home security - accept status about security system - check with portable web camera - setting the alarm

  23. 4. Control setting - setting the heating and air-conditioner to definite temperature - open the dormer when outdoor weather is great and close it, whet started to rain - control washer and setting washing mode - fill swimming pool - control gate and garage system

  24. 5. Control simulated presence - accidental or cyclical turn on or turn off lightning - let down or let up blinds
