Chapter Characteristics • The number of chapters and what was covered in the chapters stayed pretty much the same over the years. • The one most noticeable difference was that towards the end of the book higher level math was added as the years went by. • All the textbooks had around 14-16 chapters that were divided into sections of a specific interest.

Career Information • The older textbooks didn’t really have career information. • It seemed that the 1997 textbook had the most career information. • The 1997 textbook also tied the career information with what was being taught in that chapter. • In the other books they have little career information and it doesn’t seem to be tied with what is being taught.

  9. Look of the Textbook • The 1969, 1970, and 1980 textbooks were bland and have few pictures if any. • The 1997 textbook is very vibrant and entertaining. • The 1997 textbook has many colorful pictures, graphs, and diagrams. • Definitions are highlighted in all the books.

Look of the Textbook • In the 1980 and 1997 book important Rules are highlighted. • The 1980 and 1997 book has sections within the chapter that can be used to assess the child. • The 1997 book has many areas for assessment like the Chapter Review, Chapter Assessment, Cumulative Review, and Standardized Test.

  15. Technology in the Textbooks • The 1969,1970, and the 1980 textbook had no technology references to support the learning. • The 1997 textbook had many technological references including Internet references, the use of the graphing calculator, Spreadsheet, and other computer programs.
