  2. Chapter 28 Summary In Chapter 28, Phileas Fogg, Passepartout, Aouda, and Mr. Fix are all on a train, about to leave the Green River Station, when Colonel Proctor comes on the train. Aouda recognizes him and she tells Mr. Fix and Passepartout. When she tells them they make a plan to keep Fogg in their train car. Passepartout gets some playing cards to keep them all entertained and they play whist until the train suddenly stops. Passepartout goes to the front of the train where he sees the conductor talking with a signal man. The signal man tells them that they can not go on the bridge because it won’t hold the train’s weight. There is an engineer in the crowd who suddenly tells the conductor that if they go top speed, they would make it over the bridge. They try and succeed, but also crush the bridge as they reach the other side.
