  2. Purpose Of Lesson Part 3 To teach students the different types of storage medias used with computers and their different sizes.

  3. WE WILL DISCUSSED • Floppy drives • Tape drives • Compact Discs(CD) different physical sizes: CD, Laserdisc, mini disc. • FLASH MEMORY: Ex: Flash Drives • USB 1.0, 2.0, AND 3.0

  4. Drives 31/2 inch floppy • Typically remove from the front. • OBSOLETE!

  5. Saving Medias - Floppy DiscsWHY DO WE CALL THEM FLOPPY DISCS? • 31/2 inch • 51/4 inch • 8 inch

  6. 31/2 Inch Floppy • Holds 1.44MB

  7. Zip Drives • 100MB • 250MB • Became OBSOLETE just a few years after coming out!

  8. VINYL RECORD VINYL RECORD UNDER MICROSCOPE

  9. CD Format CD DISC UNDER MICROSCOPE

  10. Laser Discs, CD, & Minidisc

  11. LASERDISC • HOLD MOVIES • WAS USED BEFORE DVD’S CAME OUT! • HAS TO BE LASERDISC PLAYER • REPLACED VHS TAPES

  12. JUMP DRIVE/FLASH DRIVE • Currently up to 1000 Gigabytes or 1TB while still remaining this small ($750.00+) • Yeah! And it is also Very FAST!!!!!!

  13. USB 3.0 • Currently out • Has an additional 5 connectors behind the normal 4 • Much FASTER!!!

  14. USB 3.0 • If you have an older PC don’t worry you can add some USB 3.0 connectors to your computer with an expansion card or express card.

  15. USB 3.0 • Several different connectors unique to USB 3.0
