Apache SOLR & Carrot2: SURplus Expertise & Skills • A scalable solution for indexing and searching millions of documents • It offers a REST interface (XML , JSON), to allow loose coupling of applications • It is carried out by means of the open source project Apache Lucene, in charge of: • splitting data into tokens • extracting radixes (stemming) • drop stop words and index them according to the analyzers chosen • Allows runtime clustering of search results obtained through SOLR searches • Organizes results in category and makes it easy for users to spot the ones of interest • Different algorithms based on Space Vector Models available • Clusters are displayed graphically with Foam Trees or Circle www.cineca.it | Innovative Open Source Technologies for a CRIS: SURplus | EUNIS | June 2013
