After?) • Judgment vs. Acceptance  any tension? • Autonomy vs. Connection  any tension? • Nev and his brother  instrumentality vs. affection? • Discussion of Application Exercise • Interpersonal relationships + technology • Bright side vs. dark side • What did you take away from the film? • What was the underlying message? Do you agree? • What did it teach us about healthy/unhealthy relationships? • What is the “lesson” about how to use technology when communicating? • Does technology positively or negatively impact interpersonal relationships? (Remember, film is one example-what else do you think?)

Let’s Debate! • Online debate addressing the following topic: • The impact of technology on interpersonal communication. • Topics discussed during the debate will include topics we have discussed in class (e.g. self disclosure, close relationships, culture) • One side will argue that technology has a positive impact; one side will argue that technology has a negative impact. Sides will be assigned—do not pick your own side. Dr. Nicholson will give you your sides on Wednesday. • Sides will be broken down even further • Some will focus on the impact technology has on communication skills; others will focus on disclosure and relationships • You will use the discussion board on Desire2Learn • Sides and additional instructions delivered Monday following film analysis • Count as final application exercise

Monday’s Class • Film Analysis 2 • Notes due Wednesday via dropbox on Desire2Learn • Dr. Andre Nicholson of Middle Georgia State College • I will provide immediate responses to emails 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, July 7th and Wednesday, July 9th • Wednesday – Online Class Period • Dr. Nicholson will hand out instructions and I will email and/or post • Online Debate • Film Analysis notes due • Group meetings? (your decision; off campus or online)
