  1. By My Spirit “Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of hosts. “ -Zechariah 4:6

  2. Acts 2:14-21 This is That

  3. Acts 2:14-21 14But Peter, standing with the eleven, lifted up his voice and addressed them: “Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and give ear to my words. 15 For these people are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day. 16 But this is what was uttered through the prophet Joel:

  4. Acts 2:14-21 17“ ‘And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams; 18 even on my male servants and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit, and they shall prophesy. 19 And I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke;

  5. Acts 2:14-21 20the sun shall be turned to darkness and the moon to blood, before the day of the Lord comes, the great and magnificent day. 21 And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.’

  6. Wind and Water • The words for wind or breath and spirit or ghost are the same in the Bible languages. • Just like the wind is invisible to the human eye, so also the Spirit of God can only be seen through His actions. • In John 7:37-39, the Holy Spirit is seen as the living water that Jesus provides, our spiritual life and source of all things.

  7. Dove and Oil • The dove shows us the Holy Spirit’s innocence and purity, as well as His peaceful nature. • The dove joined the Father and Son at the baptism of Jesus to complete the trinity and to come upon Jesus for His ministry like in the Old Testament. • Oil can be used in cooking, for fuel and for anointing. The Holy Spirit is our fuel for righteous action and our daily need. He also prepares us for service in God’s Kingdom.

  8. Fire and Seal • Fire is a symbol of God’s presence and power. God is a consuming fire. He shows up in Moses’ time in the burning bush. • Fire is also used in sacrifice and purification. Burnt offerings had fire, and through fire, metals are purified. • The seal is a part of hot wax that a king’s signet ring would impress his image upon. We are sealed with the Spirit, God’s seal on us.
