Introduction of the lesson • Where does our rubbish go? • Most of the people dump, burry or burn rubbish • Most waste products are papers, plastics,old car tyres, dry grass,left over food etc • In most of the town people go to the dumping site with bags to harvest from dumping sites • They are looking for things that can be reused and recycled

  3. Why recycling is important? • We can have efficient economy if we can make use of our limited resources to produce goods • To do that we must come up with how needs and wants can be produced using waste materials • We don’t have enough material s to produce what we need and want, we therefore have to be innovative enough to use waste materials

  4. Resources to produce needs and wants • Papers • Old car tyres • Dry grass • Bottles • Plastic beams and bottles and papers • Left over food

  5. Kind of recycling projects to produce needs and wants • Recycling paper: to reuse paper to make notebooks or greeting cards and Papier mache’. Papier mache’ can be used to make beads bowls,puppets and trays

  6. Left over food,paper, dead grass can be used to make organic compost to start your own greening vegetable garden • The compost can be made by making a heap of waste materials and water that every weeks and keeping on stirring and rolling the heap until all the staff is rotten ready to compost the garden soil

  7. Using plastic bottles to recycle water in the greening garden: By using waste plastic bottles with water and put them under the soil we use solar energy to recycle water to keep the moist on the ground • It’s a way of saving water and recycling it

  8. Recycling scrap metals: old cars,cold drink cans can be used to make ornaments, and other decorating products

  9. Old car tyres: Can be used in the greening and flower garden for decoration and as planting beds for food production

  14. Home work • Page 36 question 10 • Match the types of goods in Column A with the definition in column B
