    3. 3 Agilent 3x7x Ux/PC Dual Control Overview Agilent is well into the process of converting their 3x7x customer base from a Unix to a Windows based operating system environment. During this transition period there may be a need to run an Agilent 3x7x testhead in dual mode, especially if you are developing test programs for customers who use legacy system configurations (Series II, EFS board handlers, etc). If you have this need then you will want the ability to switch your testhead between Unix and Windows with little effort.

    4. 4 Agilent 3x7x Ux/PC Dual Control Details In order to easily make your Agilent 3x7x system dual control you will need to switch your Monitor, Mouse, Keyboard, Report Printer, and HPIB connections using switch boxes. Please note that it is not necessary to switch the testhead LAN connection. Just plug your Agilent PC controller LAN connection into the same testhead LAN hub that your UNIX controller is connected to.

    5. 5 Agilent 3x7x Ux/PC Dual Control Details (cont) One can get by with the minimal use of two switch boxes if you find it acceptable to dedicate the strip printer for use with one controller. We chose to go with three switch boxes. The first box for the Monitor/Keyboard/Mouse, the second box for the HPIB and the third box for the strip printer. A testhead reboot is required after switching control of the testhead.

    6. 6 Agilent 3x7x Ux/PC Dual Control Required Components 1 Mon/Kyb/Mouse Switch Box – Black Box SWO34A-FFF 1 Strip Printer – Black Box SW621A-R2 1 HPIB – Manf. Unknown – DW24AB Cables 2 Serial Cables – Black Box EDN12H-0010-MF 1 HPIB – Agilent HPIB-10833D 2 Mon/Kyb/Mouse – Black Box EHN151-0010 *All other requires cables are contained in Agilent N1132A Indust PC Kit

    7. 7 Agilent 3x7x Ux/PC Dual Control Possible Issues HPIB If your Unix controller uses a thin HPIB connection you will need to disconnect the cable from the DUT supplies and connect it to the HPIB switch and then route the N1332A supplied 9ft HPIB cable to the DUT supplies for the HPIB switch common point. Bar-Code Reader You may need to choose which controller to dedicate the bar-code reader to if your bar-code reader is powered from the keyboard cable. There is not enough power from the switch box to power the bar-code reader.
