  3. DAYBBC Mission Our mission is to create a fun, fair, and safe basketball environment that is focused on providing skills development as well as fostering respect, self-confidence, leadership, and teamwork. The Philosophy is simple: Play Hard, Play Together, and Play like a Norskie.

Off-Season Highlights • Shot challenge: kids track shots made for rewards • Skills and development sessions • DeForest High School Head Coach Weisbrod and coach Stewart lead sessions • Coach Jeff Boos shooting clinic • Coach Forrest Larson “Take It To The Rim” clinic • First ever DAYBBC 3 on 3 challenge

  7. Player Registration Online Registration will be open August 1 through September 22, 2019 • Registration player fees are $125* if paid by September 22, 2019. A $30 late fee will be charged for all payments made after September 22, 2019. Payment must be made via online registration with credit/debit card only. • Checks will not be accepted. Player fees are not refundable once the season/team practices begin. Discounts are provided for multiple players per family, $25 off per additional child. Registration fee covers cost of uniform and BDL games as noted later in presentation

  8. Player Evaluations Skills assessment: Sunday September 22, 2019 and Sunday September 29, 2019 Each registered player is required to attend the skills assessment. Attendance is required both days. If your player has any conflict please contact Wade Soczka (daybbc2018@gmail.com) and your grade director. Include player name, grade, dates of conflict and reason for conflict. (as of this morning only 6 confirmed conflicts) Location: DeForest High School, 815 Jefferson St, De Forest, WI (North and South Gyms, PAC Lobby) Times: (same for both dates) please arrive 15-20 minutes early to have your son check in. Players should bring previous year jersey. 12:00– 1:30 p.m. – 3rd and 4th grade 1:30 – 3:00 p.m. – 5th and 6th grade 3:00 – 4:30 p.m. – 7th and 8th grade  MANY thanks to the evaluators!!!!

Season Expectations • Form teams • Finalize in early October • Grade directors will share team info • Coaches clinic TBD • If you are interested in coaching please contact Wade Soczka at daybbc2018@gmail.com As of this morning we are in need of more coaches based on projected number of teams per grade MANY thanks to the coaches!!

Season Expectations • Team practices • Goals • Begin first full week of November • Team practices will be visible in Sports Engine APP and DAYBBC.com website • Each team practices twice per week • Younger grades (3rd-5th) given earlier practice slots • Coaches will share practice schedules and changes In times of limited gym space practices may start at 5:00pm (allows for three slots per evening) Will have limited Wednesday practices as well

Season Expectations • BDL Season: • First weekend of play December 7-8 • Play 5 weekends (regular season) • Final event will be end of season BDL tournament • Format of weekend: * 3rd grade – 2 games (either Saturday or Sunday) • * All others – 3 games (either Saturday or Sunday) • Time frame when schedules will be released

BDL Season Weekends - Preliminary • Warm-up Tourney (dates TBD) • Dec 7-8 Jefferson Fort Atkinson, Memorial • Dec 14-15   • Dec 21-22 Fort Atkinson • Dec 28-29--SNOW MAKEUP • Jan 4-5  Randolph, Evansville(7) • Jan 11-12 Deforest(9), Edgerton(11th), Mt Horeb, Memorial • Jan 18-19--Sauk Prairie, Waunakee • Jan 25-26  • Feb 1-2 Tourneys--Waunakee • Feb 8-9 Tourneys--Waunakee • Feb 15-16 Tourneys--7th and 8th grade BDL plans to share grade and division dates by November 1st

  13. BDL Teams Tournaments Each team formulated for the BDL is allotted $300 to participate in tournaments outside of the BDL season and end-of-year tournament.

  14. Badger Development League (BDL) Overview MISSION • The BDL aspires to provide competitively-balanced programs the opportunity to compete in league games entirely on six (6) dates. Five (5) regular season, and a season ending tournament. All games on each date are all in the same community. • Schedule is aimed towards offering a play-sit-play format whenever possible. 3 games in a reasonable time frame during the regular season (except 3rd grade). • Families , organizers, coaches, and players involved will not be required to spend an entire weekend travelling/waiting for games to be played. • Not intended for travel teams! • Each community determines the appropriate competitive fit, in the best interest of their program with BDL administrative approval. • BDL administration offers host communities the opportunity to financially benefit through admission, and concessions sales.

BDL GRADE BASED DIVISIONS • BADGER – Competitive • BUCKY – Recreational • 3rd and 4th grade – no divisions, teams split evenly • This is new for 4th grade this year • 5th grade • 2 evenly split teams per community form one division. (BADGER) • Beginner/Recreational teams form 2nd division. (BUCKY) • 6th – 8TH grades • Badger “Red” – Competitive • Badger “White” – less Competitive • Bucky – Recreational • BDL/BADL cross over event established last year will be in play again after this season • NEW: Establish expanded division system for 7th & 8th grades • Crossover events with top division finishers from BDL/BADL in 2018-19 season.  Invitation only. • Compete against top 7th & 8th grade teams from the BADL. • Goal is to offer more competitive opportunities within league play on one of the five regular-season weekends of BDL competition.  Dates TBA. • Badger Red, White & Bucky divisions remain in place

BDL Rules • Intended priority to focus upon individual DEVELOPMENT of basketball players aged 8-14 in mind • 3rd - 4th grade divisions will not use pressing or zone defenses at any time.  Man to Man defense, no switching allowed • 5th & 6th grade recreation divisions (Bucky) will be allowed to use pressing defenses during the last 2 minutes of games ONLY! • 6th competitive-8th grade divisions are able to play any style of defense • Parents must not contact BDL direct with any questions or feedback. Please provide any feedback you might have to your coach and grade director. They will share with DAYBBC representatives to contact the BDL Any other rules not mentioned above can be found on our website under the RULES tab at the top of the main page.

BDL HOST WEEKEND Our host weekend is January 11th and 12th Tournament is ran 100% by volunteers • Opportunities to volunteer: • Concessions • Admissions • Scorekeeper/Scoreboard Only fundraising event of our season – proceeds used to keep registration fees minimal, warmup shirts, and skills/development clinics (looking at other events like this)

Parent/Player Expectations • This was completed during the registration phase and will be used as a reference point should any issues arise during the season • Stay positive • Refrain from “coaching” from sideline • Respect referees • Follow online grievance process Make it fun for the kids!!

Parent Resources FROM BDL As we prepare for the upcoming season we have once again partnered with Dicks Sporting Goods to provide families in the BDL/BADL with discounts throughout the season.  The first opportunity to take advantage of this opportunity is a full store weekend discount on September 21-22.  All items you purchase in a Dick's store on this weekend will be discounted by 20% simply by presenting the coupon enclosed in this link: BDL/Bay Area Development League Important note--if you need an item and it is out of stock in the store please work with a sales associate to have it ordered and shipped to your home with the discount applied.
