Optics • Optics Contract with SESO • WIYN provided PBL6Y for two prisms • SESO provides • Fused Silica for two prisms • Polishing of four ADC prisms • Lens 1 Aspheric Lens • Lens 2 Dewar Window - Concave/Convex spherical/spherical lens • AR Coatings Contract with Infinite Optics • Delivery two months from receipt of optics

  7. Optics (2 of 2) • Status • ADCs scheduled for delivery in Oct 08 • Lens 1 scheduled for delivery in Dec 08 • Lens 2 scheduled for delivery in Dec 08 • Test of SESO test optics by CGH end of Sep 08

  8. OTA Production • Contract with Semiconductor Technology Associates (STA) fabrication by Dalsa • Lot 3 OTAs • Incorporated design changes from Lot 2 • 12 wafers/ 48 OTAs • Packaged thick test devices • 4 OTAs unthinned OTAs for QUOTA • Lot 4 OTAs • Changed to higher resistivity material • Completed 35 of 48 wafers with 52 good devices • Successfully tested at University of Hawaii • STA/Dalsa to produce 12 more wafers at no additional cost

OTA Packaging • Contract with U of AZ, ITL to package, characterize, and mount OTAs on Focal Plate • Packaging delays due to ceramic contractor • Production equipment and employees in place • Test facility in place • First packaged devices in Nov 08 • Delivery of populated focal plate Oct 09 on Critical Path

  10. Filters • Planned six filters • g,r,i,z filter set • H-alpha • U band • RFP currently at vendors • Need one filter by Jul 09 for on-telescope optics test

  11. ISP (HEMI) • Forward Corrector remaining tasks • Final machining for Lens 1 Mount • Blackening • ADC Mechanism remaining tasks • Final Bores for Filter Swing Arm axles • Mount motor drive assemblies • Optics cells final machining

  12. ISP (HEMI) (2 of 3) • Filter Mechanism • Swing Arms completed • 1 of 3 motor drive and swing arm assemblies completed • Fabrication of Filter Holders started • Axles completed • Shrouds • Fabricated • Awaiting final assembly

  16. OTA Controller • Contract with IfA @ University of Hawaii for Stargrasp controllers • Delivery of 64-channel prototype scheduled for Oct 08 • Delivery of 256-channel controller in Feb 09 • Delivery of additional 256-channel controller in May 09

  17. ODI Software • Delayed by change from MONSOON OTA controller to StarGrasp Controller • Software architecture completed, some prototypes completed, but being revisited to see what we can reuse from other projects • Design review planned for 19-20 Nov 08

  18. Integration and Test • ODI Strategy: Integrate and test as components become available • Three phase ISP integration • Without optics – now thru March 09 • With optics – March 09 thru July 09 • Telescope test of optics – Aug 09 • Three phase Dewar integration • Thermal tests without detectors – Apr thru Aug 09 • Vacuum tests with Dewar window, without populated focal plane – Sep 09 • Tests with populated focal plane – Oct 09 thru Feb 09

  19. Commissioning Support • Provide engineering support during ODI Commissioning

  20. Dewar Expenses vs. ETC Budget * Based on Estimate to Complete May 08
