  4. What is research? • Research is a cyclical process of STEPS that typically begins with identifying a research PROBLEM or issue of study. It then involves REVIEWING the literature, specifying a PURPOSE for the study, collecting and analyzing DATA, and forming an INTERPRETATION of the information. This process culminates in a report, DISSEMINATED to audiences, that is evaluated and USED in the educational community.

  5. Why? • Improve practice • Is there a better way to integrated math and agricultural education? • Add to knowledge • We know Classroom, FFA, and SAE are important. Are there some missing pieces these days for success? • Address gaps in knowledge • How can homeschool movement capitalize on the benefits of agricultural education? • Expand knowledge • FFA develops leader. Really? What do our students go on to do? What happened to the ones that didn’t succeed? Is there anything we could have done differently?

  6. Why? • Replicate knowledge • One study is not enough. • Justify/defend knowledge • Student achievement research used by GA Ag Ed lobbyist • Add voices of individuals to knowledge • What impact has FFA had on John Ricketts? • Qualitative research
