  2. Scientific Method -Ask a question/Observe -Hypothesize/predict -Experiment/Collect data -Analyze Data -Draw Conclusions -Repeat and Retest There is NO ONE ORDER!!!

Variables and controls • Independent variable -- The condition in an experiment that is changed according to the researcher’s wishes; present in only the ex. group • Dependent variable -- A condition that the scientist observes or measures b/c of the change in the independent variable; measured in both control and ex. group • Controls: Conditions that remain constant in both the test group and the control group The control group does NOT have the independent variable in it Video clip of types of variables

When constructing graphs, keep the following in mind: • Use line graphs to show changes over time frames DRY MIX is an excellent way to remember where to put the info on the x and y axes… • Use bar graphs to show comparisons at ONE point in time • Use pie charts to divide into percentages • ALWAYS give graphs a title, and label axes where appropriate
