  5. India is known as a subcontinent. • A subcontinent is large piece of land that is part of a continent, but separated from it. • India is separated from the rest of Asia by a huge mountain range known as the Himalayas. • Yes, Mt. Everest is located in the Himalayas. Geography

  6. India has 2 main rivers that supply it with good farming soil: • Ganges River • Indus River • These rivers get their water from snow that melts from the Himalayas! Rivers

  9. What is a monsoon? • A strong wind that blows in one direction in winter and the other direction in the summer. • Winter monsoon- cold, dry air of the mountains • Summer monsoon- warm, wet air from Arabian Sea • Summer monsoon produces huge rain storms When it rains, it pours.
