  2. Purpose of Presentation To provide information on the inclusive approach adopted by Sefton in embedding a strong Equality and Diversity strand in the formulation of the 2008-2011 Sefton LAA

  3. Sefton LAA - overview • 2008 Sefton LAA presented with 30 national indicators • Supported by 7 local indicators • Number of third tier indicators identified, including Equalities and Diversity related issues.

  4. Sefton Equalities Partnership • Successful joint initiative between Sefton MBC and Sefton CVS funded via a 3 year Service Level Agreement • Strategic approach to equalities and diversity & community cohesion issues • Places Voluntary, Community and Faith (VCF) Sector at the heart of equalities & diversity issues in public service delivery

  5. Sefton Equalities Partnership – LAA outcomes • Promoting equality • Delivering economic inclusion for all • Reducing hate crime and promoting community cohesion • Establishing diversity as an economic, social and cultural asset

  6. Sefton VCF Sector role • Sefton CVS strong track record in engagement, information, advice & guidance • Sefton Community Empowerment Network – well developed networks engaging under represented communities • Sefton VCF Sector – strong tradition of engagement and equality & diversity focus, including issues around deprivation

  7. Other Sefton LAA Equalities & Diversity issues • Delivery of employment and service outcomes & engaging stakeholders key to developing inclusive & cohesive communities through setting of disaggregated targets linked to risk management • Embedding best practise in equality and diversity paramount to success.
