Why Health Insurance? • Health care is expensive & unaffordable without insurance in USA! • Health Insurance helps in reducing the costs incurred when sick or hospitalized. • Consultation fees = $80-$100 without health insurance vs. $50 with VIU insurance & medications can be claimed • Diagnosis (blood tests, X-ray etc.) and treatment expenses are very high

  3. VIU Policy • VIU offers United Healthcare insurance to students • Non-F1 students: Not mandatory to take VIU Health Insurance • F1 students: Mandatory to take VIU Health insurance Unless: You have sponsorship in USA for health insurance Note: Pre-existing conditions not covered
