  • 1.DISCUSSION: The Philosophy Department proposed last year, and the Senate approved, the introduction of Science, Technology and Society major and minor. Therefore, the emphasis is redundant and need not remain. The Law and Society emphasis has proven its viability as a formal option and the department requests to elevate the emphasis to an option. There will be no new students admitted to these emphasis after June 2010. The Law and Society emphasis will be deleted by 2014.

  • 2.RECOMMENDATION: The Academic Programs Committee recommends approval of the referral AP-013-089 Philosophy Major – Elevation of Law and Society from emphasis to option; Discontinue Law and Society emphasis and Science, Technology, and Society emphasis
