  2. 5 Basic Rules in Football 1. Fouling an opponent: Stopping an opponent illegally. Making contact with the opponent without touching the ball or being aggressive in a challenge. Example: Tripping up an opponent as they are running with a ball. 2. Offside: Passing to an attacker when he is in front of all the defender’s. 3. Handball: Purposefully touching the ball with your hand. 4. Goalkeeping area’s: The goalkeeper is not allowed to pick up the ball unless it is in his area. 5. Red & Yellow cards: Cards are given by the referee for bad fouls. Yellow is a warning card, Red means the player is taken off the pitch. Example: Wayne Rooney was given a red card for kicking out at his opponent. He was suspended for the next 2 games.

  3. Assessing the rules Rule: Giving red cards for tackles that are not aggressive or dangerous. Example: Sometimes this rule is not fair. Sometimes a referee will make a mistake and not see the foul properly. The opponent often cheats by exaggerating the foul. I think that the rule is sometimes fair but referee’s can make mistakes. I would not change the rule but I would increase the number of referee’s to help them.

  4. Regulations One regulation for football is – 1) The zones / areas of the pitch. Football area’s on the pitches must be these sizes. If they are not then they break the regulations.

  5. Regulations (cont.) Other regulations for football include: • The size of the goals. • Size of the ball. • The players must have studs. • Team kits are worn by both teams to distinguish between the teams when they play.

  6. Assessing the regulations • Regulation: (kit) • They have the kit Regulation so you can distinguish between to different football teams. • Its useful because without the kit then the game would be to confusing to play or watch.

  7. ROLES OF THE OFFICALS • The roles of the referee in football are to: • Manage the game • Gives out red and yellow cards • Keep the game under control • Watch out for cheating during the game • And make sure the pitch is safe to play on

  8. Officials in my sport are • The referee • Linesman • Fourth official

  9. Roles of the officials • The roles of the referee are to give out red and yellow cards keep the game in order and keep fit so they can keep an eye on play and watch on eye on the play. • The role of the linesman is to make sure there is no offside or to check if it should be a corner or goal kick. • The role of the fourth official is to let people know when there's going to be a change or not and to let people know if there is going to be a certain amount of minutes left.

  10. Responsibility of the official • The responsibility of the referee is: • To stay fit for 90 minutes • Make fair decisions • To not make any changes to the decisions he makes

  11. Scoring system • Get the ball past the goalkeepers line in order to score a goal.
