  2. Francis Scott Key was born on August 1, 1779, in Frederick County, Maryland. He lived there for twenty three years, then moved to Georgetown, near Washington, D.C.

  3. He was well known for being a lawyer and verse writer.

  4. Francis wrote the star spangled banner during the war of 1812. he wrote it on a napkin. The melody goes to the song, “To Anacreon in Heaven"
