  1. Studio Monitors – Why you need them? Music producers will go to any lengths to ensure that the music they create is the best it possibly can be. And being that they are professionals, most leave no stone unturned to achieve that end, even if it means spending a sizeable chunk of their budget on studio equipment. Studio reference monitors from Fluid Audio are accurate, high quality speakers that can be an important part of any studio setup and can have a tremendous impact on the end result of any production. •What are the Studio Monitors for? Studio monitors are basically loudspeakers designed for professional audio production in commercial or home studios, where accurate sound reproduction is crucial for recording and mixing. The primary difference between a studio monitor and any other speaker is the attention to precision and accuracy. Studio monitors are capable of producing a very flat frequency so that sound engineers can hear every small detail in a mix.

  2. The term ‘flat’ basically means that the response of the speakers is even throughout the entire frequency range, and no frequency bands are any louder or softer than any other. This is crucial when making mix decisions as the flat response help the engineer not mistakenly add additional bass, treble or other frequencies. Though not entirely ‘flat’, a pair of good quality studio monitors will provide a good level of accuracy, and a good “reference” when eventually playing the final product on other speakers. Studio monitors come in many sizes, shapes, colors, and of course, price points. For people mostly doing home recording, there is little need for the most expensive monitors. However, the more you pay, the more accurate (and feature rich) they will be. Studio monitors can be differentiated into “Active” and “Passive” studio monitors. Passive monitors need a separate amplifier to drive them, where as an active monitor has the amplifier built into its enclosure, so you just have to plug it in to a wall socket. Then there are “Near-field” and “Far-field” monitors. The most popular for small studios are the near field monitors, as they are designed to be placed within a few feet of the listener. This eliminates a vast majority of reflections from walls in the room and gets you close to the sound. The far-field monitors are typically mounted in a wall soffit, which most small studios typically do not have. •Why are Studio monitors so important? Originally built for accuracy, studio monitors are capable of improving every mix you create. They can eliminate a lot of speculation and give you a precise picture of what is happening in your mix. Depending on your budget, try to choose the best studio monitor possible, as it will have a direct impact on your mixes. Fluid Audio Monitors are a great option for serious studio work as they offer great quality at their respective price points.
