  3. About NACESTI • Established on 24 September, 1990. • Leading organization in Vietnam in providing S&T information services for research & development. • Will be upgraded to National Agency for S&T Information. • More strategy and policy making orientation.

About NACESTI • NACESTI is carrying out following functions: • Central hub of the national network of STI services organizations • STI provision, dissemination and promote S&T achievements • Organize and manage Techmart Vietnam • Central Library on Science and Technology • Develop and manage Vietnam Information for Science & Technology Advance - VISTA Network • National coordinator of the Vietnam Research & Education Network (VINAREN) – a primary member of TEIN2, TEIN3 and APAN

About NACESTI • International events successfully organized by NACESTI: • Techmart Vietnam 2003, 2005, 2007 • Korea Technomart 2002, 2004 • China Technomart 2003 • 10th International Conference on Asian Digital Libraries – ICADL 2007 • Science and Technology Days in Vietnam (with Germany, Thailand, Ucraina, etc.)

VinaREN • April 2006, NACESTI was nominated as national coordinator of TEIN2 in Vietnam • Official launching in June 2006, connecting to TEIN2 • Feb 2007, VinaREN joined APAN in Manila Conference • April 2007, VinaREN’s phase 2 development project approved, NACESTI was assigned as national coordinatior

  7. VinaREN • Since 2007, VinaREN’s experienceing rapid development • 3 VinaREN National Forum held so far • 50 member institutions, who are leading R&D organizations in Vietnam • 6 NOCs, including VNNOC (national coordinator) located in NACESTI

  8. Hanoi – Economic and Cultural Center of Vietnam • 998 years old • 1000th Anniversary will be in 2010 • It is the capital city of 3 dynasties • a city of rich historical, economic and cultural heritage

Objectives • APAN 30 will provide a forum for researchers and practitioners in Asia Pacific region to meet and share knowledge and experience on developing network and application technologies. • The Meeting will feature tutorials, presentations and demonstrations covering advanced network technologies and applications

  12. Participants • Researchers, practitioners, decision makers, faculty members, students, etc. in the field of advanced network development and application • Expected number of participants: 350, including 150 foreign participants and 200 local participants

  13. Conference venue • Melia Hanoi Hotel • 5-star hotel located in the city center of Hanoi, inside the diplomatic and financial district and close to main tourist attractions, entertainment and shopping areas: most are in walking distance

Melia Hanoi Hotel • Meeting rooms • High capacity Grand Ballroom, serving for up to 1,000 delegates; can be divided by movable partitions into 3 sections, each connects to a large foyer/exhibition area. • 7 function rooms with capacities from 70 to 200 delegates for sessions or working group meetings • Reception and Banquet are available for up to 800 people.
