  2. Heinrich Schleimann Heinrich Schleimann was the main excavator of Troy. He was born in Neubukow, Germany, in 1822. His father was a minister. His mother died when he was only nine years old. Heinrich died on December 26, 1890.

  3. History Of Excavation When Troy was excavated, in 1870, they found nine cities built one on top of the other. Each city was built on the ruins of the one before. Illum the last city found in Troy. It was found by the Romans. The city of Troy was found in the bronze age, about 3,000 B.C. The second and the sixth cities were the wealthy cities.

  4. Location and Description Troy is located in the Asia minor (now Turkey). Troy is on the edge of the Aegean Sea. It was in the center of the Trojan war.

  5. Occupational History The Trojan war was in Troy. It was a very big battle for that ancint city and made changes in Troy that changed the history of it forever.

  6. Artifacts And Features The excavator of Troy found coins, pottery shards, and a wall. The design on the coin is the side view of a woman’s face. They think that the wall was from a palace or temple.

  7. Cultural Data A young boy named Homer made wrote stories about Troy but no body believed him. Soon enough the stories came true and everybody felt bad for not believing him.

  8. The Trojan Horse In Troy, there was a Trojan War. During it, neither the Trojans nor the Greeks were winning so the Greeks came up with a plan. They pretended to leave but just hid around the corner. The Greeks put the horse where the Trojans would find it and some of the Greek men hid in the horse. That night the Greeks came and killed the Trojans.
