Technology: Current

  • A PIC based circuit board acts as the local monitor and controller for each frame
  • This board converts the analogue data from the frame and sends it to a Java application via a serial port
  • Within the application rests the primary logic, which allows customization of how the frame functions (including fade time, color relations, shared color mixing, intensities, etc.)

Technology: Proposed

  • The frames will eventually use a wireless communications system to some extent: locally wireless to an Ethernet terminal or perhaps globally wireless
  • Better presence detection system, including detection of the specific person who is assigned to the frame
  • Social networks of frames?
  • Spatial connections?
