  2. Introduction • Despite Oklahoma State University’s (OSU) dedication to being ADA compliant, is there still room for improvement? • Life Sciences West (LSW) = 6 floors & 8 bathrooms • Most are not compliant

  4. Research Question & Hypothesis • Research Question: Do people think the bathrooms in Life Sciences West are or are not handicap accessible? • Hypothesis: People will agree that the bathrooms in LSW are not handicap accessible and will want to fix the issue.

  6. Secondary Research Methods(Electronic & Print) • Used the library database and found journals, magazines, and other printed resources with information on ADA compliance with regard to bathrooms • Key phrases: “handicap friendly schools” & “non-ADA compliant schools”

Discussion • Bathrooms in Life Sciences West are not in compliance with the ADA Standards. • Puts OSU at risk for the possibility of being sued for discrimination, and it gives our university a bad reputation. • OSU’s enrollment is suffering because they are not bringing in the students with disabilities.

  12. Recommendation • Renovations should include, the following: • Wall switches to all doors • Constructing light-weight bathroom doors • Wider, more efficient bathroom stalls with doors that open outward and automatically swing shut.
