  1. Water, Water Everywhere! Pupils: Grigore Cristina Ichim Alexandra Petcu Bogdan Teacher: Popescu Daniela

  2. Water is one of the four essential elements of life. Water is a humid, cold, weighty element which tends down and which is easy to discharge. Water is regnant in nature under all the three states of aggregation.

  3. Romania is rich in water from the hydrologic point of view. Important sources of water from our country are represented by: The Black Sea The Danube The Tisa The Prut The Siret The Mures The Olt rivers.

  4. Our county, Vaslui, is situated in the East of the country and the superior and middle course of Bârlad river runs through it. Other rivers and reception basins from our county are Prut and Bârlad rivers and Soleşti water storage basin.

  5. Everybody knows how important water in human life is and we have thought that it will be helpful to discover more information about what surrounds us. We have taken more samples of different kind s of water from Bârlad and Prut rivers, Soleşti water storage basin and from tap water and rainfalls.

  6. Bârlad • It is one of the most important affluent from the left bank of Siret river. Untill the 15th century, the little river Bârlad used to flow into the Danube river. • The water of this river has the following proprieties: • Coulour: easy neutral • Flavour: no flavour • pH = 7.77 unit. pH • Conductivity: 874 µS/cm • OD0 = 8.23 mg/l • P-PO3-4 = 0,102 mg/l • NH+4 = 0.68 mg/l • NO-2 = 0.26 mg/l • NO-3 = 13.5 mg/l

  7. Prut • It is about 953 km long, having its spring source near Hoverla mountain from the Wooded Carpathians, Ukraine. The river flows into the Danube river, forming a barrier between Romania and the Republic of Moldavia and the biggest city on its way is Cernăuţi from Ukraine. • The proprieties of this water are: • Colour : very easy neutral • Flavour : no flavour • pH = 7.70 unit.pH • Conductivity: 431 µS/cm • OD0 = 5.79 mg/l • P-PO3-4 = 0 mg/l • NH+4 = 0.26 mg/l • NO-2 = 0.020 mg/l • NO-3 = 2.4 mg/l

  8. Solesti • An artificial water storage basin situated between hogback and tandem areas to a forest. • It is the main water for Vaslui town and it has the following proprieties: • Colour: incolour • Flavour: no flavour • pH = 8.01 unit. pH • Conductivity: 767 µS/cm • OD0 = 8.37 mg/l • P-PO3-4 = 0 mg/l • NH+4 = 0.17 mg/l • NO-2 = 0.036 mg/l • NO-3 = 0.6 mg/l

  9. The Water from the Tap It is the water which we consume and use daily, being the usual source to every household. The information about this type of water is the following: • Coulour: easy neutral • Flavour: no flavour • pH = 7.77 unit. pH • Conductivity: 874 µS/cm • OD0 = 8.23 mg/l • P-PO3-4 = 0,102 mg/l • NH+4 = 0.68 mg/l • NO-2 = 0.26 mg/l • NO-3 = 13.5 mg/l

  10. Rainfalls It has also a lot of interesting proprieties which we have discovered. We want to present the following information: • Colour: incolour • Flavour: no flavour • pH = 6.85 unit. pH • Conductivity: 71.5 µS/cm • OD0 = 7.95 mg/l • P-PO3-4 = 0 mg/l • NH+4 = 0.3 mg/l • NO-2 = 0.054 mg/l • NO-3 = 1.0 mg/l

  11. Pictures from laboratory

  12. All this analysis were made in specially equipped laboratories • with a range of professional • equipments. • We have used the following instrumentations: • Oxygen analyzer • Software for quality of water • Softer for conductivity • Softer for pH

  13. We hope that you were glades looking our project . We were pleasures when we heard about this theme of this work, because we have taken part at other project which have the same theme. Our study “Water – source of life” was presented and awarded inside of a international competition with 1st place. This theme will ever be in our attention.
