  6. What will homework look like? • Not every night. Often, good daily work habits equal NO HOMEWORK! • Long termed assignments get adequate class work time. • Homework forecasts,reviewssupports classroom learning. • Please let me know if your student is spending an inordinate amount of time on homework. • Better to show progress and turn in inadequate or incomplete homework than to miss deadlines or learning opportunities.

  7. Tutorials • Tutoring opportunities almost daily (I may be on duty) • 7:15 – 8:30 a.m. • Lunch • 3:45 – 5 p.m. • With related tutoring most assignments may be resubmitted until achieving mastery

  8. Achieve 3000 • 100+ Lexile average growth 2013-14 • JMS website, click Student tab then Achieve 3000 link • Student’s user name and password required • One A3k assignment per week; tutorial policy applies Username/Password Achieve

  9. My Expectations • ROAR! • Come prepared (pen/pencil, paper, binder) • Have a positive attitude • Communicate clearly (don't be afraid to ask for help!) • Try your hardest! • Act kindly, responsibly, and justly!

  10. Ask why • Note hallway question marks • Teachers ask why when planning activities • Students encouraged to inquire • Leads to rational collaboration when we all understand each other’s intentions and goals.

How to earn JAG bucks and where to spend them • Earn JAG bucks: • Go above and beyond in kindness, respect, or responsibility. • Do an exceptional job on assignment. • Volunteer to help school staff and teachers • Get caught being an exceptional role model • Spend J-Bucks at the school JAG store, buy dance tickets, and in classrooms where teachers offer JAG buck stores
