  3. Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation Mission: Advancing public health and nutrition utilizing the expertise of Registered Dietitian Nutritionists.

  4. Help the Foundation Raise Funds for the Annual Fund! What is the Annual Fund? The Annual Fund generates revenue for the Foundation to continue its mission. The Funds are used for the area with the greatest need. The Annual Fund provides the unrestricted funding that enables the Foundation to help offset operating costs associated with providing scholarships, research grants and managing the Kids Eat Right initiative.

  5. How Can the Foundation Help You Fundraise? Promotional Items: Request a document from the Foundation that includes the dollars your state has received in the last year including: scholarships, awards, Kids Eat Right mini-grants and FNCE student stipends. Use the total dollars given to your state to encourage donations. Set a fundraising goal! Provide the Academy Foundation logo to use at your event.   6. Planning Your Event 1. Form a Fundraising Committee 2. Brainstorm ideas 3. Select your audience 4. Select the event 5. Develop a timeline 6. Schedule the event 7. Promote your event 8. Consider using a personal fundraising page to encourage donations. It’s an easy way to raise donations for athletic fundraisers and for those who can’t attend your event. 8. Collect funds during the event. All checks can be made out to: Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation 9.Thank you letters Please send all donations with the donor’s contact information to the Academy Foundation. The Foundation will send a thank you letter for each donation collected, if the contact information is provided.

Fundraising Ideas • Raffle • Sell tickets for one for $5 or three for $10. • Silent Auction • Encourage exhibitors to donate items to a silent auction. • Each district could be encouraged to donate an item. • At a spring meeting, include a check-off box on the registration form to encourage donations to the Foundation. • Sell donated cookbooks at a conference for $5 each. • Encourage tribute gifts to the Foundation at a booth.

  8. Fundraising Ideas • Spin a-thon, walk a-thon, Jump romp a-thon etc…. • Yoga fundraiser • Jeans day at your office • Cocktail party

Getting the Word Out! 6 weeks or more before the event Send out email invites, media alerts and social media postings. 2 weeks before the event Send reminder emails, additional social media and follow up calls to key attendees. 1-2 days before the event Send out email reminders to attendees with specific location details and contact information.

  10. Report About YourEvent The Academy Foundation wants to hear about your fundraising successes! Please email a report summarizing the event in a few sentences including: • Name of event • Total dollars raised • Include any exciting prizes, unique ways you promoted your event and any photos that were taken. Please send you report to Amy Donatell at adonatell@eatright.org.

  11. Event photos will be posted on the Fundraising Chair website. Please remember to take photos of your event and send them with your event recap.

  12. FAQs Can someone help me get a permit for my event? The organization and execution of the event is the responsibility of the third party group. The event organizer must obtain the required permits or licenses. Can the Foundation provide an item to our raffle/ silent auction? Yes, the Foundation can email a catalog of publication options from the Academy Bookstore. There is a limit of 5 publications that can be selected and donated per Annual Meeting. • We also ask that requestors please include payment for shipment of these free products. Will each of my donors get a receipt? Yes, please provide the contact information along with the donation to the Academy Foundation and we will issue a thank you letter for each donor. *Please, use the donation form located on the Fundraising Chair website to use for collecting the donor’s contact and donation information.
