  5. Why Global Screening? • Required by state law; mandated by MCPS policy • Screen all Grade 2 students • Rescreen recommended students in grades 3-5 • Screen all new students in grades 3-5

GT COMMITTEE • Includes principal, classroom teachers, and other staff in the building, such as ESOL teacher, Resource Teacher, Reading Specialist, Counselor, Staff Development Teacher , Speech Pathologist • Collects and analyzes student data • Meets to make informed educational decisions that best serve our students’ strengths • Makes identification and instructional recommendations using a “Decision Tree”

POTENTIAL What educators and psychologists recognize as giftedness in children is really potential giftedness, which denotes promise rather than fulfillment and probabilities rather than certainties about future accomplishments.
